10 Inspiring Quotes From Anne Frank…
By Sukh Singh, Associate Partner, Lighthouse International
We have comfortable lives, with virtually everything we need and want at our fingertips. Yet we will all encounter hard times – losing a loved one. Losing a job. Falling into debt. Going through a break-up or a divorce…
There is one young woman, however, who went through a very dark time whilst facing imminent death; shone instead and gave so much hope to those around her. The reflections in her diary are astonishing. Her name was Anne Frank and she is one of the most famous Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
Born in Frankfurt, Germany, she lived most of her life in or near Amsterdam. By May 1940, the Franks were trapped in Amsterdam by the German occupation of the Netherlands. As persecutions of the Jewish population increased in July 1942, the family went into hiding in some concealed rooms behind a bookcase in the building where Anne’s father worked. From then until the family’s arrest by the Gestapo in August 1944, Anne kept a diary she had received as a birthday present and wrote in it regularly.
How could one young girl still have so much hope and see so much good? She serves us all as a benchmark for how to respond when life is so very challenging. I encourage you to really soak up her words, appreciate the circumstances within which she was writing, and take inspiration in applying them in your own life…
