Your Job Title Doesn’t Make You a Leader

Comedy that makes you think

By Kris Deichler, Associate Partner, Lighthouse International

Here’s another classic sketch from the UK series of The Office, which I’m sure was such a success because it depicts the ridiculous realities behind every day work life, dramas and politics so well. No doubt you’ve known someone at some point, a boss, supervisor, or manager perhaps, who felt their job title automatically brought them respect and loyalty. You know… the one everyone complains about over after-work drinks! While work etiquette may mean we follow such a person begrudgingly, we all know that respect and loyalty needs to be earnt and can’t just be given.

Those who are real leaders have built their integrity and character, setting an inspiring example to others because of who they are, not what it says on their business card!.. Apart from Gareth Keenan perhaps! 😉

Do you want to develop and hone your leadership skills to make the most of your potential and that of those around you?
