Words have so much more power than we realise. The way we describe things will always carry energy or feeling – positive or negative. It’s very important to be careful of the words we choose because of the message that is carried in them, either towards others, or even subconsciously for ourselves. In this video Stephen Fry, the English comedian and intellectual tells us just how shockingly far words can take people and a society. We can choose words to affirm, forgive and build people and society up, or to break them down. Legends are people who realise that the most important thing is to help people become who they can be, to inspire them through the use of positive language, just think of speeches by people like Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, or even Charlie Chaplin.
