How many of us see any legend at the top of their field and think that person is special in some way – that they somehow have an innate special gift that no one else has! I know such thoughts are tempting, I’ve had many similar ones myself. That’s why I love this advert from Under Armour. It features NBA basketball player Stephen Curry, golf champion Jordan Spieth and ballet dancer Misty Copeland, who was the first African-American dancer for the American Ballet Theatre – one of America’s most prestigious ballet companies.

The advert shows multiple images of each person. This highlights the moves and shots they have practiced, many tens of thousands of times! The lesson is, mastery of anything takes thousands of hours of practice and dedicated hard work. You may then be in a position to “rule yourself.”
