Will Smith’s Secret For Long Lasting Relationships

By Daniel Schmitz, Legends Report Contributor

Do you sometimes wonder how couples manage to have successful long-term relationships? And did you ever ask yourself what’s the secret of great relationships, and if it is by chance that they just found the right partner?

And if you are in a relationship, do you ever get frustrated with your partner and sometimes doubt if you can, or indeed want to stay together?

In an article by the Daily Mail, Will Smith speaks about how he has managed to stay married to his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, for more than 20 years. He’s quite honest about it, and he also speaks later about their challenges:

Never Quit

We’ve been married 20 years and we’ve been asking ourselves [what’s the secret to marriage] and really at the end of the day it’s just not quitting” the star revealed.

“You can’t expect it to be easy…” Will continued, adding: “It’s like our marriage was the most difficult, gruelling and excruciating thing that we have ever taken on in our lives… and you know we’re just not quitters.”

Improve Yourself

“He also opened up on what he believes to be the secret to maintaining a good marriage, and this is – always working to be a better person.

The duo are  frequently plagued with divorce rumours, however they always shoot them down. Most recently, this past August, the star emphatically wrote in a Facebook post;

“So, in the interest of redundant, repetitious, over & over-again-ness… Jada and I are…NOT GETTING A DIVORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

What stands out is that Will Smith knows, that being in a relationship is neither an easy or a smooth ride, and that it is indeed sometimes quite tough!  Legends know the key to success in any field is not to quit! It applies to anything in life!

In line with this, he mentions that his secret is to continuously work on himself, enabling him to firstly become a better person, and secondly to continuously assess his responsibility within the relationship, in order to bring about the desired outcome.

How easy it is to blame your partner for problems, and only look for their faults. By looking at ourselves, and subsequently changing our attitude and behaviour, we are more likely to improve our relationships?
